Ave Maria Ledger Stone Media Wall: Fully Custom Built-Ins
This Ave Maria ledger stone media wall was designed as a complete architectural feature rather than a collection of separate components. The approximately 15-foot-wide wall was organized around a centered stone tower, balanced storage on both sides, and clear sightlines for the television and fireplace.
The completed installation brings together custom cabinetry, display shelving, integrated lighting, fireplace framing, stonework, trim, and handcrafted wood details. Every dimension was developed for the room and the selected equipment.
Light Ledger Stone Center Tower
Light ledger stone gives the center tower texture and depth without making the room feel heavy. The stone runs around the mounted TV and linear electric fireplace, creating one continuous focal point. Clean perimeter trim and crown molding connect the feature to the existing architecture.
Handcrafted Poplar Mantel
The mantel was built by hand specifically for this wall. Poplar was selected for its distinctive natural grain, then finished with a natural stain and protective lacquer. The warm wood tone creates a deliberate contrast with the light stone and painted cabinetry. A soundbar is integrated directly below the mantel for a clean media layout.
Custom Cabinetry, Shelves, and LED Lighting
Both sides of the center tower include fully custom lower cabinets and open display shelves. The symmetrical arrangement provides concealed storage below and illuminated display space above. Round LED puck lights and concealed low-voltage wiring were integrated during construction so the shelves have warm, focused light without exposed cables.
From Layout to Finished Media Wall
The construction process began with laser layout and full-size positioning on the existing wall. Wood framing established the center tower and fireplace opening before the custom cabinets, shelf sections, drywall, lighting preparation, trim, stone, and final finishes were completed.
